The atelier
We own the factory. Nothing on this site is bought in, rebranded or drop-shipped — the frames are cut, the foam is profiled, the covers are patterned and the finish is sprayed under one roof in Mejdlaya.
The workshop
Six hundred square metres over two floors. Machining and frame assembly on the ground floor, upholstery and finishing above it. Two of us walk that floor every day, which is the real reason a fault gets caught on the bench and not in your living room.
Choosing the materials
Beech for frames, because it takes a dowel and holds glue. Foam is specified by density, not by feel — 30 kg for a soft seat, 35 for a firm one, and we will tell you which one a room needs rather than which one sells. Fabric comes from Belgian, Italian and Turkish mills, and we keep the full books in the gallery so you sit on the cloth before you choose it.
Frames and joinery
Every frame is doweled and glued, then clamped overnight before it moves. Corner blocks are screwed and glued, not stapled. A stapled frame will pass a showroom and fail in year four, and we have taken enough of them apart to be certain about it.
Upholstery
Covers are patterned on the finished frame, not cut flat from a table. On a straight sofa that costs an hour. On a curve it costs most of a day, and it is the only way to get a back with no seam across the front. Buttoning, where a piece has it, is tied through the frame by hand and knotted behind.
Finishing
Wood is oiled or sprayed in a separate room with its own extraction, because dust in a lacquer is permanent. Oiled surfaces can be repaired in place with a cloth; lacquered ones cannot, so we say which is which before you choose.
What made to order actually means
It means you give us the wall and we cut to it. Change the length, the seat depth, the back height, the arm width, the foam density, the fabric, the leg and the finish. Send us a photograph of the room and a measurement, and we will tell you what will fit and what will not before anything is made. Lead time is six to eight weeks for upholstery and four for cabinetry.
